Our history

Engineering Consultants, Inc. was founded in 1964 by Lee Bransford, an engineer who had outgrown the structural needs of a local prominent architectural firm.  Carl Brunck joined Bransford as partner in 1969, with Jim Brown becoming the third partner in 1974. These three led the company until 1991 when both Bransford and Brunck retired.  Frank Allison and Ritchie Brown were both made partners in 1991. Together alongside Jim Brown they lead the firm through a period of strong growth.  Grant Jordan became the fourth partner in 2003.  Jim Brown retired in 2013 after nearly 60 years working as a structural engineer.  Brian Miller became the latest partner in 2014.

Our experience and expertise includes all major building materials, comprising of structural and light-gage steel, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, precast concrete, reinforced masonry, wood and heavy timber, as well as foundations for metal buildings.  Our projects include residential, commercial, institutional, retail and industrial structures.  We also have extensive experience in investigative engineering such as damage assessments, structural surveys, and analysis of existing structures.

We pride ourselves in providing innovative yet practical engineering design with neat, accurate construction documents which are completed within our clients’ time requirements.  Our clients and building owners benefit by our many years of experience through our knowledge of cost effective solutions and best practices pertaining to the prevalent building materials and construction trade organizations.

We truly believe in working together as a team.  As Structural Engineers, we always consider the entire design of architectural, structural, and other components that make up a structure. This attention to detail has helped us continue to serve our many repeat clients, including architects, owners, contractors, MEP and civil engineers over the last 50 years and counting.

As technology advances we are able to provide our clients with accurate 3D structural models throughout the design process from beginning to end with the use of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. These programs allow our engineers to analyze and design complex engineering challenges faster and with more accurate details to ensure the safety of our structures.
